The Truckee runs through the center of Reno, dividing the old casino district to the north and the emerging Midtown neighborhood to the south. The rushing waters of the Truckee River are loudest in Spring when the weather warms up and the snow begins to melt from the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountain range.
